IN THE BEGINNING: Creation Myths from Around the World is a collaboration with the artist Adrienne Robinson, to re-tell and illustrate the stories of creation according to the oldest, most indigenous sources we could find. For three years we read, researched cultures and their art forms, told each other the stories until we could feel our way to the indigenous mind and aesthetic. Then I re-created the stories and Adrienne, with paper, wire, fabric, nuts, seeds, animal skins – created artworks that captured the sense of who these people were, and how they understood their beginnings. This exhibition has appeared in museums, galleries and schools. We believe that creation is ongoing, and that your own creative process may be stimulated by these stories and images.
